We are looking for great people to join us

Our purpose is to be an outstanding, innovative council delivering great services and making life better for everyone in Wychavon. Each year we set an ambitious strategy underpinned by promises to our communities.

We spend around £9.6 million a year providing services to residents, businesses and visitors, ranging from emptying bins and dealing with planning applications, to business support and organising popular festivals including the British Asparagus Festival, Pershore Plum Festival and Salt Fest in Droitwich Spa.

We pride ourselves on being an entrepreneurial council that operates commercially. We were one of the first councils to sell our housing stock and invest the money, to build a hospital and will soon have built our second Waitrose store. We’ve protected services using our Grow, Save, Charge plan and last year we were shortlisted for LGC, MJ and iESE awards. We like to do things differently and we’re quick about it too.

Our staff are at the heart of what we do, and we are proud to be recognised as an Investors in People organisation.

Wychavon is regularly named as one of the best places to live in the UK. With easy access to the beautiful Bredon Hills and Cotswolds, great schools, sporting venues and good transport links, our district offers a fantastic and well-rounded place to live and work.

Apprenticeships

Apprenticeship policy statement

Wychavon Council recognises the value apprenticeships bring in addressing skills gaps and developing staff to meet the future requirements of the workplace. We also proactively encourage other local employers to employ apprentices within the local community, boosting skills and employment prospects.

We work in partnership with training providers to offer high quality apprenticeships which provide quality on and off the job training. Apprenticeships are available to new and existing employees and can be used for achieving a variety of qualifications up to and including a degree.

Whilst we are not able to guarantee a job offer on completion of an apprenticeship, it is hoped that apprentices will continue to work for the Council and gain a permanent or temporary contract at the end of their apprenticeship.

We currently offer apprenticeships and traineeships in Engineering services, Communications, HR, Business Administration and Customer Services.
