Communities urged to bid for funding

Community groups, parish councils and heritage organisations are being urged to bid for a share of the latest round of the Wychavon Rural Fund.

Charities, parish councils and voluntary organisations in rural areas can claim up to £25,000 to support projects that make a difference to their community.

The types of projects that can be funded include measures to cut carbon emissions such as the installation of community EV charging points or energy efficiency measures in village halls or other community buildings. Projects that improve or develop new green spaces or play areas and measures to improve footpaths or encourage cycling are also welcome.

Money is also available to support the development of cultural, heritage and tourism assets such as museums, arts venues, exhibition centre, theatres, libraries and film facilities.

Funding can only be used for capital projects – money which is spent on physical things such as buildings and infrastructure – and not to support staff costs or day-to-day spending.

Expressions of interest need to be submitted by 5 January 2024. Those chosen to go on to the next stage will then be asked to submit a full application.

Cllr Paul Middlebrough, Executive Board Member for Town and Rural Vitality on Wychavon District Council, said: “We know there are many great ideas and projects out there so if you have one, please put forward your expression of interest. If you’re not sure if your project will qualify, then please pick up the phone and talk to us, we’ll be happy to offer advice.”

Visit www.wychavon.gov.uk/rural-fund to make an expression of interest or for more information. To discuss your application please call Georgie Muckle, UKSPF Support Officer on 01684 862270.

The Wychavon Rural Fund is part of the council’s share of the Rural England Shared Prosperity Fund and UK Shared Prosperity Fund provided by the Government as part of its Levelling Up agenda.
