These pictures show how Droitwich Spa’s new-look leisure centre is shaping up after a £15 million investment from Wychavon.
The finishing touches are being made to the centre ready for it to reopen fully on Tuesday, 1 September. An official opening is planned later in the year. Residents will also be able to take advantage of Wychavon’s free swimming offer for under-16s and over-60s and free beginner swimming lessons for adults and children.
The centre’s new facilities include a new learner pool, upgraded café and improved reception area. Three new treatment rooms have been added, while the swimming pool and gym changing rooms have also been fully refurbished. The surround around the main pool has also been given a fresh look and improvements have been made to the fitness studio.
Mechanical and electrical systems have also been upgraded, the roof and guttering repaired and energy efficiency measures installed. The car park has already been extended as part of the project to create 292 extra spaces with 24 spaces for bicycles. Further work will take place from 14 September to resurface the front car park and tarmac the gravel car park to the side of the centre to further improve the parking experience for visitors.
The leisure centre improvements are part of Wychavon’s multi-million-pound investment in health and wellbeing in Droitwich Spa which includes the planned regeneration of Droitwich Spa Lido, a new pump track and skate park due to be completed later in September and a health corridor linking Vines Park to Ladywood Lock in Salwarpe, which opened last year.

“And through our offer of free swimming and free swimming lessons, we’re making sure more people can benefit from our investment from day one.”
