Residents are urged to get out and enjoy the beauty and excitement of Wychavon’s parks and open spaces as part of a week-long national celebration.
Love Parks Week runs this week to 3 August 2025 and highlights the vital role parks play in boosting the health and wellbeing of communities.
Wychavon looks after a range of award-winning parks and open spaces which offer everything from great places to relax, socialise, exercise and play.
People can have a game of tennis on the courts in Lido Park, Droitwich or try out pétanque or table tennis in Workman/Waterside Gardens Evesham. Explore Droitwich’s heritage with the Wych Barge, replica brine pit and salt history mosaics in Vines Park or check out the skate park in Abbey Park, Pershore.
Live music can be enjoyed from the bandstand on certain dates in Evesham and Pershore’s Abbey Park and Lido Park in Droitwich, while Wychavon’s parks play host to a range of major events throughout the year including food festivals, the Battle of Evesham Festival and Pershore Plum Festival.
There are plenty of play areas for children to let off steam, including the Battle of Evesham themed fortress at St Richard’s Open Space in Evesham and new free water plays have been installed at Abbey Park in Evesham and Pershore, with a new one set to open soon in Lido Park, Droitwich Spa.
Parks are also havens for wildlife and Wychavon is playing its part by reducing herbicide use and planting several wildflower areas to boost biodiversity.
Cllr Beverley Hardman, Wychavon’s Executive Board Member for Environment, said: “We are proud of our beautiful parks and we know that both locals and visitors alike enjoy and value the wonderful green spaces and activities that they provide.”
