New pump track and skate park now open

Work is complete on Droitwich Spa’s new pump track and skate park.

Wychavon has invested £600,000 in creating the facility next to the town’s leisure centre, which can be enjoyed by BMX riders, skateboarders, scooter users and inline skaters.

Designed by cycle facilities specialists ON TRACK, the pump track features a series of rolling humps, slopes and banked turns for different abilities.

The flowing concrete skate park, designed and installed by Maverick Skateparks, has a mix of banks, transitions, ledges and halfpipes.

Dragon Play & Sports, which has more than 30 years’ experience creating community play and sports facilities, oversaw the project.

Residents have worked with us to turn the idea of a new pump track and skate park into a reality, offering considerable input into the design and final layout.

An official opening event is planned next year. In the meantime, while the track and skate park are available to use now, users are being asked to stay off the landscaped areas to allow the grass to grow.

The project is part of Wychavon’s multi-million-pound investment in leisure and wellbeing in Droitwich Spa, which includes a £15 million upgrade to the town’s leisure centre, new health corridor and plans to regenerate Droitwich Spa Lido.

Cllr Richard Morrs, Leader of Wychavon, said: “I’m proud we’ve invested in creating this fantastic space where people of all ages and abilities can get active, develop their skills and have fun.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has helped bring this project to life, especially local residents Alex Pedlow, Martin Maycroft, Craig Edwards and Chris Smith, whose passion and determination have played such an important part in making it happen.

“We’re looking forward to celebrating the official opening next year, but in the meantime I hope everyone enjoys making the most of these fantastic new facilities.”
