Work underway on new skate park and pump track for Droitwich Spa

A new pump track and modern skate park are taking shape in Droitwich Spa as part of a £600,000 investment by Wychavon.
The new facilities are being built next to the town’s leisure centre car park.
Designed specifically for Droitwich Spa by award-winning cycle facilities development company ON TRACK, the pump track features a unique series of rolling humps, slopes and banked turns, creating a modern loop circuit that will challenge riders of all abilities.
Specialists Maverick Skateparks are behind the skate park design and installation, which will be in a modern, flowing street style, with a mix of banks, transitions, ledges and halfpipes, creating an exciting space for skateboarders, BMX riders, scooter users and inline skaters.
The project is being overseen by Dragon Play & Sports, which has more than 30 years of experience creating community play spaces and sports facilities. Both facilities are expected to be ready to use by October.
Earlier this week, Droitwich Spa residents Alex Pedlow and Martin Maycroft, who were instrumental in campaigning for the new pump track, were invited to join Cllr Richard Morris in touring the site to see construction progress.
Alex said: “It seemed like a long way off when we started to campaign for this and people told us not to bother, but we stuck at it and it’s great to see the progress being made. This is going to be a great facility for Droitwich Spa, particularly for the town’s young people. Everyone is going to love this.”
Cllr Morris, Leader of Wychavon and Executive Board Member for Economic Growth and Tourism, said: “We’re proud to be delivering these high-quality, unique and modern facilities that reflect what our community, particularly our young people, has asked for. They are also a testament to the determination of our officers to overcome barriers to create a place for people of all ages and abilities to come together, be active, and enjoy."
The scheme forms part of a wider multi-million-pound investment by Wychavon in leisure and wellbeing in Droitwich Spa, including the upgrade of the leisure centre, transformation of Droitwich Spa Lido and new health corridor.
