Spoken Audio:

  • Voiceover: "One standout success is Emily Parsons. She joined in 2018 as an administrator and is now Human Resources Services Manager, having completed a level 5 apprenticeship and currently working towards level 7, equivalent to a master's degree."
  • Emily Parsons: "I've learned so, so much more—so in my level five, only because I've only just started my level seven... but it's the theory behind and the why behind what you do. I feel like before I did my level five, I didn't really understand much of that and we just did things because that's the way it was. But you know, learning about legislation, theory, best practice, employment law as well was a huge thing in my level five. So I'm really looking forward to seeing how now that develops in the higher level, in the level seven."

Transcript Segment 3: Alicia Adamson – HRSC Co-ordinator

Timecode: 00:01:28 to 00:02:45

Visual Description: The council representative sits down for an interview in an office pantry setting. Alicia Adamson stands smiling outside the entrance, then sits on the office sofa speaking to camera. Text on Screen:

  • Lower-Third Graphic: "Alicia Adamson – HRSC Co-ordinator"

Spoken Audio:

  • Voiceover: “At Wychavon, we know apprenticeships are vital. That's why we provide extra funding to employers to take them on, including several at Hive. One of them is Alicia Adamson, who found herself unsure of her next step after leaving university. Her apprenticeship is now helping her forge a successful career in human resources."
  • Alicia Adamson: "Yeah, so I chose an apprenticeship because I wanted to earn whilst I was learning, essentially. I didn't know what role I wanted to do—careers were a bit tricky thinking about what future I could foresee. And when I decided to go into HR, I loved it, but obviously within that role I wasn't too sure what HR could bring for me. So doing the apprenticeship alongside that just meant that I was able to, yeah, make a wage, but also learn so much about the role as well. What I enjoy about my apprenticeship is the opportunity to do all of that extracurricular learning, essentially. So doing my role is fantastic—I've learned so much actually doing it—but doing the apprenticeship beside that has meant that I can actually feel more confident in what I'm doing and I do feel like I have that really in-depth knowledge within my role, as well as being able to sort of have that responsibility of independence as well within my own learning."

Transcript Segment 4: Jess Howard – Head of Talent

Timecode: 00:02:46 to 00:03:34

Visual Description: Jess Howard smiles near an office window, chatting with the council leader, before sitting on the sofa to speak to camera.

Text on Screen:

  • Lower-Third Graphic: "Jess Howard – Head of Talent"

Spoken Audio:

  • Voiceover: "Jess Howard, Hive's Head of Talent, is also an apprentice herself. She has seen firsthand just how valuable apprenticeships can be."
  • Jess Howard: "In terms of apprentices that come into Hive Support Services, they offer a great return on investment. So, when an apprentice joins the business, they bring fresh perspectives and new ideas. And the great thing about an apprentice is that we can tailor an apprentice's training to any skills gaps that we have in the business. And they can really come in and hit the ground running and work from the ground up, and they can know our processes and our systems. And apprentices are very loyal as well. They do create a sustainable pipeline of talent within a business as well. And I think that's been really noticeable within Hive and how people have progressed through the business using all of the knowledge and skills that they've learned through their apprenticeships."

Transcript Segment 5: David Steven – IT Technical Analyst

Timecode: 00:03:35 to 00:04:24

Visual Description: David Steven crosses his arms and smiles outside Hive offices, then gives a guided walk through the office and sits at his workstation putting on a headset. He sits in front of a wall graphic displaying the word "Growth" as he speaks to camera, intercut with close-ups of David typing on a laptop displaying Hive's company values.

Text on Screen:

  • Lower-Third Graphic: "David Steven – IT Technical Analyst"

Spoken Audio:

  • Voiceover: "For people like David Steven, choosing an apprenticeship has created an opportunity to develop his skills in cyber security without having to take on the significant debts associated with a university education."
  • David Steven: "I love the flexibility of it. I can pick it up when I've got free time. If I'm struggling for a little bit of time one day, I can do extra another day, and it's just completely flexible to work around my busy work schedule and busy kind of personal life. So if I was going to speak to someone about actually doing an apprenticeship, I'd fully recommend it. It's a—as I kind of said, it's a great way to gain experience and qualifications at the same time. So it helps you get a job, get more money potentially, and be a lot more kind of sellable to any prospective employers."

Transcript Segment 6: Molly Knight – HR Team Leader

Timecode: 00:04:25 to 00:04:57

Visual Description: Molly Knight smiles outside the entrance, then talks with the council leader in an office kitchen space. She sits on the sofa to speak to camera, intercut with footage of her conversing in the breakroom and working at her monitor.

Text on Screen:

  • Lower-Third Graphic: "Molly Knight – HR Team Leader"

Spoken Audio:

  • Voiceover: "Another apprentice supported by our funding is Molly Knight. While Molly wouldn't swap her university experience, her apprenticeship has allowed her to successfully switch careers and pursue a future in human resources."
  • Molly Knight: "Yeah, I did a sports degree, but then, yeah, coming into HR was something completely different for me. But yeah, it's one of the most engaging apprenticeships I've ever done. I just think the support that you also get from the business itself—so we get a study afternoon here—and also the support I get from my learning coach as well. It's always about engagement. You know, the support is always there if I'm ever struggling with an assignment."

Transcript Segment 7: Jess Morton – HR Business Partner

Timecode: 00:04:58 to 00:05:48

Visual Description: Jess Morton stands outside the office building, then sits at a round meeting table with colleagues enjoying coffee. She sits on the sofa speaking to camera, intercut with close-ups of her working attentively at her desktop.

Text on Screen:

  • Lower-Third Graphic: "Jess Morton – HR Business Partner"

Spoken Audio:

  • Voiceover: "Human Resources Business Partner Jess Morton has completed level three and level five apprenticeships and is now studying for a level seven qualification. Although challenging, Jess is passionate about the benefits apprenticeships offer and has a clear message for others considering the next stage of their career."
  • Jess Morton: "Stick at it. It's really important. It can get overwhelming at times, but it's really good when you've got a good, supportive organization and manager behind you. You can get loads of exposure to loads of different things. It helps not only professionally, but personally. So it's really good to be able to apply, you know, communication styles and how to hold yourself confidently, and just learning a little bit more academically. So absolutely stick at it, it's a really good thing to do."

Transcript Segment 8: Conclusion and Call to Action

Timecode: 00:05:49 to 00:06:17

Visual Description: The council leader speaks in front of a Hive display banner in the glass lobby area and outside the building entrance. The video ends with a group photograph shot of the featured apprentices and council representatives sitting and standing together on the sofa, smiling. Upbeat music swells and fades out.
