Will you collect more than two bulky items?
Yes. For every collection of either one or up to two bulky items, the charge is £21. If you want three or four items collecting in one go, the charge would be £42. For the collection of five or six bulky items in one go the charge would be £63 – and so on.
A three-piece suite is classed as being three items and will be charged at £42; an upright piano; American style fridge and or freezer or a dismantle shed will be charged at £42 per item.
How do I know if you'll take my bulky waste items?
As long as your item(s) can be lifted safely by two operatives then the item(s) should be fine. There are exceptions to what FCC can collect. For example, hazardous waste such as chemicals, gas bottles, batteries, clinical waste and building materials will not be collected. Liquids and loose waste cannot be collected, but up to 20 sacks of domestic waste will be collected for £21
If an item is too heavy to lift or cannot be handled safely on the day of collection, it will be left and a refund will be made to the householder.
What if I don't want to use your service for my bulky waste item(s)?
For items in good condition give them to charity or a re-use organisation – for more information go to visit the Let's Waste Less website.
If you do use another contractor you must make sure they have a licence to carry and dispose of waste. To check if a contractor is licensed to carry waste, call the Environment Agency on 03708 506506 or go to GOV.UK. If they don't have a licence, and the waste is found fly-tipped, you could be liable to prosecution and a fine.
What if I want to take my bulky waste to the household recycling centre (tip)?
You can take many bulky items, such as those on our list below, free of charge to a household waste and recycling centre. Remember, if you go there in a commercial vehicle or with a trailer you will need a CVT permit – these can be obtained free of charge by calling 01905 765765 or by going to Let's Waste Less website and clicking on "CVT Permits" in the ‘Recycling Centres' section. Please note that double axle trailers are not permitted.
