Droitwich Leisure and Wellbeing Investment

Investing in Droitwich leisure and wellbeing

We have developed an ambitious range of exciting leisure and wellbeing opportunities for residents in and around Droitwich Spa.

The plan includes multi-million-pound investments in Droitwich Spa Leisure Centre, Droitwich Lido, a new skate park, pump track, health corridor and replacement athletics track. The plan was approved by councillors in February 2024.

On this page you will find more information about each of the projects. We will update this page as each project progresses.

  • Droitwich Spa Leisure Centre

We have allocated an initial £7 million to upgrade Droitwich Spa Leisure Centre.

This includes the creation of a new extension with reception, café and a new learner pool. Upgrades will be made to improve the centre’s carbon footprint.

Treatment rooms will also be refurbished and there will be extra car parking.

You can read more about the plans for Droitwich Spa Leisure Centre here.

You can also comment on the Droitwich Spa Leisure Centre planning application. The consultation is open until 6 January 2025.

  • Droitwich Spa Lido

An £8 million redevelopment of Droitwich Spa Lido is proposed. This includes extensions to the Art Deco building, expanding the site and the introduction of a Brine Bath, new cafe and restaurant, spa and leisure offer.

A consultation on the plans closed in December. Coucillors will consider the proposal in detail early in the new year.

  • Pump Track

We have allocated £300,000 for a new skate park to replace the current one on King George V Playing Fields near the underpass to the Westlands, which is now 20-years-old.

It is proposed the skate park will be built near to the leisure centre. The new park will be bigger and more in line with other skate parks in Evesham and Pershore.

  • Skate Park

Young people have been asking for a pump track for some time and we have made £125,000 available to make this a reality. It is proposed this will go next to the skate park.

  • Health Corridor

The health corridor will link Vines Park to Churchfields creating an active travel route that will also increase people's access to nature and boost accessibility to Coney Meadow.

The project will involve the creation of a formal towpath, solar lighting, and benches. We will also be working with the Canal and River Trust to make improvements to Coney Meadow to boost biodiversity.

  • Athletics track

We have allocated £252,000 to replace the athletics track at Droitwich Spa High School, in partnership with the school, to benefit students and the community.
